The Official NG Clash of Avatars Rules

Posted by TheGamechanger - April 23rd, 2015

1.) To join, just nominate an avatar to fight with. An avatar can be anything you once used as your user icon, it doesn't have to be your current one. Avatars you used on other websites are also allowed. Naturally, try to have the avatar you pick be roughly as powerful as the other avatars the competition chooses. Or, if your avatar is more powerful than the others try to give some leeway so that the other players will have a fighting chance to beat them. Posting background info on said avatar and showing their abilities, equipment, etc. would be useful information for us unfamiliar with the avatar, so I encourage that.

2.) Once the given amount of slots have been filled, you have 24 hours to confirm you're still active. Then the battles can begin.

3.) You can also team up with a player to form a team. However we won't do that for the first few games, best we get people used to the game first.

4.) When it's time for two contestants or teams to duke it out, they must select a battle zone and some battle music. If there's no real preference, I'll pick them myself.

5.) To win, just beat the opponent in battle. Whether or not the opponent dies depends on whether it's in-character for the victor avatar. If the users involved feel like that fight's gone on long enough (i.e. a stalemate), then we'll vote on who wins and show the outcome.

6.) While it's important to make sure your character is, well, in-character, don't have them dodge every attack and hit their mark each time. That's no fun for the rest of us.

7.) Only serious competitors are allowed. If you're here to just joke around, then you'll be disqualified. This means that all contestants must be willing to follow the Clash of Avatars thread rules, or else they'll get replaced with someone else.

8.) Contestants shall be sorted by time zone so that there won't be much waiting.

9.) If you fight someone outside any of the battle zones, then that won't register as a defeat or a win.

10.) You can either depict you battles with words or MS Paint/Photoshop. If you want to use those MS Paint/Photoshop on a picture you find online, please make sure it's in the public domain or something.

11.) In the main base, aka the Combat Command Center there's a training room that combatants who are waiting for their fights to begin can use. Only one combatant can use the room at a time to avoid friendly fire.

12.) Anyone who wins a Clash of Avatars shall have their name and icon immortalized in the Hall of Champions, all on a trophy of their own. Once an avatar wins a Clash of Avatars a new Clash of Avatars shall immediately begin, and that avatar shall become the final boss for the new champion to fight.

13.) You can change your avatar up until it's time for your first battle, for the avatar you use in your first battle is the one you'll be using for the rest of the thread.

14.) When battling with your avatar use the entire base picture or concept that your avatar is based on, not the square that it's restricted to.

15.) Once your first battle is over your avatar may relax at the Combat Command Center, where they may watch the fights from the sidelines or do whatever until it's their turn again.

16.) To help keep track of who's online and who's not, send friend requests to each other! That way we'll be battle buddies!

17.) The only trash talk that's encouraged and endorsed is competitive banter. (eg.: "I'm a better fighter than you!" "Oh yeah? Prove it, wimpy!") We don't need mean-spirited folk on the thread, thank you very much.

18.) I encourage RP-ing as your avatar if you know how, as it'll make the fights more entertaining that way.

19.) Don't kill each other when not in a Battle Zone.

Comments

Yeah, I'll admit, I kinda cheated on the first one, my character was kind of an overpowered/God Sue character(s), as all of Jurassic Park.

I know. I'm trying to make this year's user icon battle a lot more balanced and organized than last year's user icon battle, because admittedly the first user icon battle had quite a lot of troublesome parts that I really want to smooth and iron out.
